Who Could It Be?

Any guesses on our son's Halloween costume this year? If you can't guess, don't worry, unless you watched educational children's TV between 1999-2001 (or re-runs since then) you probably wouldn't know. The guesses we got were: cow, mouse, and panda bear. All incorrect. Our son dressed up as a Coquerel's Sifaka lemur named Zoboomafoo.

Obviously I had to make my own costume on this one. Besides the ears being a little too big (hence the cow comments), and not being able to paint my son's face black, I think it turned out pretty accurate. The important thing was that our son enjoyed it and played the part of jumping and leaping around all night. My husband and I dressed up as Zoboomafoo's human TV hosts, the energetic Kratt brothers. Our costumes were pretty easy, all we had to do was strap on some hiking boots and backpacks.

We spent Halloween evening first visiting Grammy's house, then to a carnival our church was hosting for the neighborhood. We played a few games, won some tickets & cupcakes, and hit some trunk-or-treating on the way home. As compared to last year, our son fully understands what candy is, and knows that he likes chocolate ones!
A carnival game where you get to hit things with a hammer? Fantastic!

The weekend was even more special because we had 3 house guests for the weekend (who did not dress up in obscure costumes). 3 of our college friends, who all live 3-4 hours away drove into town for a get-together at our house. They were great sports about being dragged around to Halloween festivities all night, and being woken up early by a toddler. We enjoyed our time with them, reminiscing about "the old days" (we've all known each other 15 years now!) and creating new memories. It was really fun to see our son take to his new Auntie & Uncles too! They were great with him.

Aaah, back to our regular lives...
