Camping Trip
Well, we survived our first camping trip with a child. Definitely not the restful experience that camping used to be. But perhaps the trade-off is the fun of getting to see your child experience new things in a beautiful environment.
We were fortunate to go with some friends of ours, who have 3 children. Their youngest is close to our son's age, and they were all over the place! Dirty the whole time, and loving it! It really helped to be there together, so we could share responsibilities and have more eyes on the young'uns. Plus, we really enjoy their company!
As you can see from the photos below, our son's favorite pastime at the campsite was throwing dirt, pine cones and sticks. He also really loved using sticks as hitting tools... hitting trees, hitting rocks, you name it. He liked walking on top of fallen trees & jumping on top of tree stumps. We visited a lake on one day, and he absolutely loved splashing around in the water.
The only real challenge (besides trying to keep kids clean--which we didn't even try too hard at, since it was completely futile), was sleeping together in a tent. Our little guy fell asleep quite easily when we put him down in his pack-n-play for the night, but on both nights that we were there, he woke up crying during the night (sorry neighbors!). We're not really sure what woke him up, but we nestled him in between us in our sleeping bags, and eventually he got comfortable enough to fall asleep again. phew!
Here are some photos of the trip. Enjoy, because we probably won't be doing this again for at least another year!
