Our Little Pumpkin Turned One!

Since Sho-Be's birthday is the day after Halloween, it made it really easy to go with a pumpkin theme for her first birthday party.  We decided to stay home and celebrate with our family who live in town on her actual birthday.  A couple weeks later, we were able to join our SoCal family to have another celebration with them.  We can't celebrate this little one's life enough!
Here's the sign that Ahiyah made for the party
Here in town, we had our family over for dinner.  Thankfully there are tons of recipes that incorporate pumpkin, both savory and sweet, so Mama had a lot of fun putting together the menu!  We had a pumpkin dip with veggies, turkey pumpkin chili and corn muffins, a pumpkin lentil soup, salad, and for dessert: pumpkin cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream frosting, and Nutella & pumpkin cheesecake bars.  (can you see that we like our food?!?!)
As you can guess, the headband didn't stay on for long!
When the time came to sing Happy Birthday and blow out her candle, it got a little loud in the house. For a moment, it looked as though Sho-Be might cry, but she didn't.  She just kept looking around at everyone, and I'm sure wondered what she was supposed to be doing!  She figured it out...
Loving my pumpkin cupcake!
By the end of the evening, our birthday girl was a
little tired...but still posed for one last family shot!
The celebration down south was also a fun family get-together.  It was our first time to meet our new baby nephew, who was born in September.  The family just keeps expanding.  11 grandkids and counting...
Hard to believe ours was this small just one year ago!
We had lunch together at a buffet restaurant, and then over to Koko and Ko-Tiu's house for cake and relaxing.  The cousins all had a great time playing together.

Here are 9 of the grandkids together...we miss you TKNJ!
We were able to dress her in the same Chinese outfit
that Achi wore on her first birthday!
Isn't it nice to have big brothers to help out??

Time with Gong-Gong
The whole crazy birthday bunch!!!
We are so blessed to be raising our children with supportive and loving family around us.  Even though we may not live near everyone, the love and support we feel is still there.  Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate, and even more importantly, who walk with us on this daring adventure of parenting.
