Building Birthday Memories

Yesterday was our son's 3rd birthday. In previous years we just celebrated at home with immediate family. But this year we decided that since he is a little older, actually understands what a birthday party is, and has his own friends to invite, that we could step it up a bit and invite some friends over for a themed party. The theme? Construction work zone!

We were a little worried the night before the party, because our son had been sick pretty much all week, and couldn't even finish a sentence without coughing through it. We knew he didn't feel well, and wondered if he would even enjoy the party. To top it off, it started pouring rain too.

But in the answer to many prayers, we woke up Saturday morning, the sun was shining and our son was feeling better than he had in days. He woke up at 6:30am and didn't stop all day.

We are so thankful, not just to be able to have the party, but to be able to celebrate with friends who have grown to mean so much to us, and to our son. All of the kids were so well behaved and fully participated in all the activities. It was so fun to watch!

Most of all we are grateful to God for giving us 3 years with this wonderful kid. Our son is growing in so many ways, and we are privileged to watch him develop and become the boy that God has created him to be. We look forward to all of the joys, accomplishments and challenges of the year to come. Happy 3rd birthday, son.
