Celebrating 5 Years

When we went to LA this past weekend for Koko's wedding, we were surprised to have the family do a little impromtpu celebrating for Jackson's 5th birthday.  This was kind of special, because with the exception of his first birthday party (important in the Chinese culture, and necessitating a big extended family get-together) he has never gotten to celebrate his birthday with his cousins on Papa's side.

It wasn't a huge deal, but they gave him balloons at the restaurant & a cake at home.  It was cool that even our family who live in the Philippines were there, because of the wedding.  In fact, they'll be visiting us at our home in a couple of months.  We got to go to the park and play before we headed back home at the end of the weekend.  Love that cousin time!

At home, on our son's actual birthday, we had to have a cake and candle ceremony.  After all, he is 5 years old!  It seems like an important milestone, 5 years.  What a crazy ride it has been.  He has brought so much joy into our lives and also has changed us in so many ways.  We are not the same people since we became his parents.  We wouldn't trade it for the world, though.  We love you, our big 5 year old!
