Life at 9 Months Old

What life is like for our 9 month old:
being in constant motion,
discovering that he can open and close doors by himself,
feeding himself cheerios and rice cakes,
babbling with one tooth halfway in,
pulling himself up to kneeling and standing (but getting stuck there!),
creeping all over the house,
clapping his hands together.

What life is like for the parents of a 9 month old:
sore arm muscles from restraining our squirmy child on the changing table,
learning to be more efficient during shorter and shorter naps,
getting more sleep at night,
mashing and pureeing food at mealtimes,
playing peek-a-boo and pat-a-cake,
letting our little one practice climbing all over us,
watching with delight each time he makes a new discovery about the world around him.

It seems like he has been with us much longer than 9 months. We have a hard time imagining life without him. The loss of freedom, added responsibilities (and oh! the lost mornings of sleeping in) are all worth the joy of taking care of this precious baby boy.
