A Sky-High View

Supposedly our church has a 28 year long tradition of presenting Bibles in December to all the babies that were born within that calendar year. What no one bothered to tell us, is that part of this tradition is for this man (who is this guy, anyway?), to hoist the child way up in the air. Why? We're not quite sure. Someone told me it is like offering the child to God. I'm not sure it needs to be done like this, but I guess it is kind of like a rite of passage (for the parents!). The look on our faces pretty much tells it all...
