On the Road Again...

Between this past weekend and the one before, our son spent about 22 hours in the car. I'm very proud of how well he travels. It's a blessing, since most of you know how my husband and I like to travel. But that much time in the car can make anyone a little bonkers. Unfortunately, he is way past the stage of sleeping through most of a car ride. In fact, this past weekend he slept for a grand total of 30 min. in the car! So my husband and I have been exercising our creativity on how to keep the little guy entertained...

Reading his books and listening to books on CD or tape has been the main entertainment. Thanks to our neighborhood library! Our son is actually very interested in his books and stories. He even has some of them memorized, because he's heard them so many times. Here is part of his own "reading" of The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

We listen to lots of songs too. He loves Sesame Street songs and the Wiggles. He's also a fan of the Hindi Kids CD that we also borrowed from the library. I'm sure we are a pretty hillarious sight driving down the road, belting out children's songs in Hindi and doing our best rendition of Bollywood dance moves!

We are getting pretty good at identifying dairy farms and mooing at all the cows. We like to spot horses and trains too.

And of course, it never hurts to have fun snacks to eat as we drive along.

Happy travels, everyone!

Oh man, I'm so jealous that Jackson travels so well! :) Maybe it'll be different when Jeremy is older. Right now, he hates to be confined, so we're dreading the flight to Canada this summer when he'll have to sit in his seat for 2.5 hours... AAGH!

N was the same way with the books, you bring so much and it's only worth 10 minutes of entertainment! so far so good though. but when all else fails, the next step up is videos!
