First Ball Game

This past week we took our son to his first baseball game. Our city hosts a Triple A league, and they have great promotions to get people to come out and watch.

Any romantic notions that we may have had about taking our son to a ball game were quickly dispelled. At first he wanted nothing to do with sitting still, and literally ran all over the stadium while Papa went to get food. With a soda, we were finally able to settle him into his seat. I don't know if he even realized that there were guys throwing, catching and hitting balls on the field (despite our many attempts to point this out to him). As it got darker, he realized there was a huge TV screen in front of us which, of course, captured his attention. The real attraction of the night though, was the large orange bear mascot named Parker. I'd forgotten how enraptured kids can get with life-sized stuffed animals that dance around and act silly. That was all he talked about all night. In the end, we had to convince him that Parker had gone home to go to bed, just so that he would want to leave too. Good memories, though. Maybe next year he'll notice the players.

Clapping for our team!!

With Jason being such a huge baseball fan, he's excited about the idea of taking Jeremy to ball games... Your post pretty much summarizes what I think Jeremy would do- I don't think he'd notice the players/field either. Since Jason's attention would be on the game, that'd leave me to chase Jeremy around. Looks like Jason's just going to have to wait a few more years! :)

N enjoyed his first conscious baseball game, because he loved balls then, but of course it was all the food and walking around that made it fun for him. what team is in fresno?

What a cute idea. Maybe when the weather isn't triple digits.
