Since our son was about 20 months old, we started training him to help with simple kitchen chores. His first job was sorting the forks, knives and spoons and putting them away. He has done a fabulous job at this task, and when his sister was born, we started telling him that someday he would get to train her to put the silverware away and he'll get a new job. (amazing that he is actually excited about this!)
So, our daughter is about that age, and since she's always wanting to be involved in the kitchen (starting to take her bowl up to the sink after meals, pushing her chair up to the counter so she can watch what I'm doing, etc.) we told our son he could start training. Honestly I think he's more excited about his new job of rinsing dishes and loading them into the dishwasher than having a trainee...but he's started to pass on his knowledge.

"Wook, Mama, wook!" |
And here's our proud new dishwasher...
Who knows? Maybe someday they'll have it all running so smoothly, my hubby and I can just kick back on the couch and relax after a meal while the kitchen gets cleaned!
